After my friend asked me to go on a very spontaneous road trip to the south of Germany, I couldn't say no. I'm almost ashamed to say that I have never been to Germany. Switzerland's nordic neighbour with all its beautiful little towns, great cities, beautiful landscapes and remarkable traditions has always been a dream destination for me to visit. We decided to visit the area of black forest and one of the bigger cities in that region, Freiburg. We decided to take the road less travelled: The roads through the countryside had so much more to offer than the german autobahn. After arriving in Breisgau, we first got a cheap, yet delicious german-turkish Kebab and went for a stroll through the medieval narrow streets of the historical part of Freiburg. Luckily, we found the local market, in bustling activity. Fresh fruits and vegetables, local delicacies and blooming flowers filled the air with a wonderful smell. On our way back to Switzerland, we stopped the car and decided to explore the mythical forests of Schwarzwald. At least we thought so: Even the forests were sprinkled with small flowers in every colour. Germany, I will be back for sure!
